Just starting a new post to see what everyone's been up to. Since the stores are sold out I'm assuming a bunch of you got some new stuff. Well I did. I was actually already in the middle of building an ar-15 for my wife when all this happened. I also upgraded my rifle a lil bit. I also picked up a new...lets call it an investment from LAN world inc. I wasn't planning on it but when I walked in for some crush washers for my build I saw what seemed to be the last two ar's left on the shelves in Utah. So naturally I had to buy it. So what have all you picked up or built in the last few weeks?

I sensed a disturbance in the Force during the summer and bought early. Got a S&W M&P15 sport, Ruger 10/22 w scope. Taurus 709 Slim. Figured worse case was nothing to worry about and I'd still have 3 cool new guns. Boy was I right to buy early. Managed to pick up 3 P-mags for the M&P before they all got bought up.

I have two lowers from the WeTheArmed group buy that are on the way.  Should be here in January sometime.  Planning one as a 223 sniper/varmint gun, the other in 6.8 spc.

I have built a few AK's, ordered a few sets to build SBR AR's, just gotta get the receivers for AK's so I can build more.

You can use the crush jaw rivet tools, or use the good stuff from AK builder (which is what I use). But unless you are building several of them it is not worth the cost outlay. You may try over at akforums.net and see of anyone has a set of jaws you can use.

As for finishing it, if I am doing black oxide I degrease it, use stripper on it and then wash it with brake cleaner. If I am doing a spray finish I blast it with fine media grit, then repeat the above process. I have also found that if you heat the gun up to hot to the touch then spray it, and let it cure for a week or so before you assemble it.

And it does shoot pretty well.

So far I have done all the work, except for shortening the barrel myself. In letting the stock for the detachable magazine system was the most difficult.

Yesterday I placed an order for a "custom" 22lr for Kidd Innovative Design.  Probably spent more than I should have but looking forward for it to arrive.   Not sure if it will be 1 week or 12 weeks till delivery.
