Ksl.com just suspended their firearms listings.

All the gun related items are gone.  Looks like they, Cheaperthandirt, Dicks, and Wal-Mart don't want our business.

Typical knee-jerk reaction.  KSL used to be one of the best resources of info on used guns.  Now they're "shooting" themselves in the foot.  The firearms section drove a lot of traffic.

Where is a good alternative place for a used gun?  I've got a buddy looking for Glock 9mm

As of now there is no good alternative locally.  However we can make UTGO that alternative resource.

Not an endorsement but this was on the local news.

cut and pasted from the front page of the site:

"Within hours of KSL?s announcement, founders launched the leading alternative

(Salt Lake City, UT?December 19, 2012) Within hours of the announcement that KSL suspended private firearms sales through its classifieds service a new website was launched offering Utah citizens a place to buy and sell guns.

UtahGunExchange.com was launched to provide a cooperative marketplace for Utah residents to offer and find firearms for sale. Utah Gun Exchange will fill the void left by KSL?s decision to depart from Utah?s private firearms market Tuesday, said Exchange co-founder Nick Moyes.

?Our site?s launch gives KSL an easy out,? said Moyes. ?We appreciate what they?ve done thus far and understand that offering Utahns the ability to buy and sell firearms may not be a stance they wish to champion anymore.?

Those wishing to use the website may list their firearms at no charge. Utah law allows for the private purchase of firearms between adults in Utah with no registration.

?We applaud Utah legislators for protecting the free market for this fundamental tool of self defense,? said Moyes. ?We want to enable Utahns to take advantage of that market to better be able to deter any life-endangering threats they might face.?

For more information, visit www.UtahGunExchange.com"

UtahGunExchange deleted my post on their Facebook page.  Not quite what I expected.

They are essentially using a Wordpress blog for their site.  It's a good start but it will be very difficult to search.  There are some other sites that are good. I'm trying to figure out what software they are using.

Came across this thread and created an account so that I could share my site with you.  I created http://www.utahguns.com over a year ago.  It never had any use because there was never a need for it with the KSL classifieds.  I loved the firearms section and used it daily.  Now that it is gone people are looking around for a placement just as you mentioned.  Give utahguns.com a try and please feel free to offer suggestions for improvement.

Welcome.  Your site is nice and has more of the feel of KSL.  Love your software that you are using.

Good idea, but upon finding a 70$ pmag and a 1100$ beta c mag I think I will instead spend my time trying to protect this from happening.

Everyone please start writing letters.  Be rational be concise but be firm.

I got a chuckle out of the prices also. $12.00 Pmags for 75-100 USD. $995.00 AR's for $2k. The most sad part of this government takeover is that they will definitely pull out all stops to eliminate all Gun Shows in the future. I am also concerned about the businesses in Utah that will have to close their doors due to new regulations. Utah is fortunate to have LAR, AFM and many other weapons manufacturers I am not familiar with. I am also sure it will eliminate a lot of mostly internet sales companies. Those guys are not returning any calls anyhow at this time. In my 65 years, I have seen a lot of changes in our government, but this scares me the most of any I can remember. It is such a shame the government is using such a tragedy to promote their agenda though. I listened to one liberal label the Conn. shooting as an early Christmas present for the gun control cause.

@SteveenTing - Thanks for the feedback.  We hop the site grows to a great gun community like here.

@Warbirds - You are absolutely right.  Now is not the time to stay silent.  As these major companies voluntarily take guns off the shelves it only makes the problem worse.

Just found a new, free classified site to buy and sell everything including guns and ammo. They are national, but just getting started. A good couple,Matt and Shea Saylor, run it.  I met them at the Crossroads of the West Gun Show a few weeks ago. Check out Need4More.Com! Let's give this new site a chance by listing and buying on the site.

 Need4More.com...Looks good!

Saw them walking around with shirts at the gun show.  I'll have to check it out.
